The short version
Botpress is the most complete builder we compared: a usable free plan, three ways to build and a help desk for handoff, all on one price list. Chatbase is the fastest route from documents to a bot on web chat and messaging apps, and Dante AI is the low-cost pick for websites that also want voice. ManyChat and Chatfuel are the specialists for Instagram and WhatsApp selling, Landbot for lead capture, SiteGPT for website support, Typebot for open-source chat forms, CustomGPT.ai for large document sets and Voiceflow for enterprise voice and chat agents.
Short answer
Botpress is the best AI chatbot builder for teams that want to start free and grow into WhatsApp, white-label chat and human handoff in 2026; Chatbase suits small teams that want a bot trained on their content live within a day, from $32 per month billed yearly. ManyChat's Essential plan costs $14 per month billed annually, the lowest paid price here, and Botpress, Dante AI, Typebot, Landbot and ManyChat all have free plans.
This list is for founders, marketers and support leads who want to build their own AI chatbot without hiring a development team. We compared documented features and published prices for 10 builders, from general platforms such as Botpress and Voiceflow to focused tools for website answers, social DMs and guided chat forms. Scores cover capabilities, ease of setup and value, weighted 40, 30 and 30. Each builder bills in a different unit (conversations, message credits, active contacts or queries), so check that unit against your expected traffic. Prices are in US dollars as shown on each vendor's own page on the day we checked.

Free plan with 100 conversations; Plus from $150 per month billed annually with 250 conversations
Quoted from the Botpress pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Plus $150/mo billed annually 250 conversations/mo included
Botpress covers the whole build cycle in one account. Viber turns a written description into an agent, Studio gives builders a visual canvas with real-time collaboration, and Desk adds a help desk so people can pick up conversations the bot cannot finish. The free plan is generous for testing, with 100 conversations, 3 seats and 3 AI agents. Plus costs $150 per month billed annually and adds unlimited agents, WhatsApp, white-label web chat and a $25 AI usage allowance; Botpress also covers $0.10 of model usage inside every conversation. Pricing is per conversation, not per resolution, which Botpress argues keeps bills predictable. Two caveats stand out. The jump from free to $150 is steep for a hobby project, and once you cross 95 percent of your quota a pack of 100 conversations is added automatically, with no option to pause. Voice is listed only on the Enterprise tier.
What it does well
- +Same plans and prices across Desk, Studio, Viber and the ADK
- +Each conversation includes $0.10 of LLM usage covered by Botpress
- +Free plan includes 3 seats and 3 AI agents
Where it falls short
- −Paid plans start at $150 per month, a big step up from free
- −Conversation packs auto-recharge and cannot be switched off
- −Voice channel is only listed on Enterprise
- Free plan
- 100 conversations, 3 seats, 3 AI agents

- Team

- Extra conversations
- $65 per 100 on Plus, $50 per 100 on Team

Hobby from $32 per month billed yearly ($40 monthly) with 700 message credits
Quoted from the Chatbase pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Hobby $32 $40 $40 $40 /month billed yearly Save $96 yearly
Chatbase is built around one idea: point it at your content and get a working agent you can publish anywhere. Even the $32 Hobby plan, billed yearly, connects to WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Slack, Shopify and WordPress, and lets you pick advanced models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Mistral and DeepSeek. Each agent can run AI Actions and Procedures, so it can do more than answer from documents. The Basic plan at $120 per month billed yearly is where it becomes a support platform, adding voice, telephony, a helpdesk inbox, API access and connectors for Zendesk, Salesforce, Intercom, HubSpot, Freshdesk and Zapier. Chatbase lists SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA coverage. The trade-offs are cost and limits: there is no free plan, every tier includes a single agent, extra agents cost $25 per month, and white-labeling is a $99 monthly add-on.
What it does well
- +WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack included on the entry plan
- +Wide choice of model providers on every plan
- +States that customer data is not used to train models
Where it falls short
- −No permanent free plan, only a 7-day trial
- −Hobby includes 1 agent and no API access
- −Removing Chatbase branding costs $99 per month extra
- Hobby
- $32 per month billed yearly, 700 message credits, 2 members

Free plan; Starter $40 per month or $33.33 per month billed yearly
Quoted from the Dante AI pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Starter $40 /month or $33.33/month billed yearly ($400 a year)
Dante AI is aimed at owners who want one assistant that handles the website, the phone and incoming leads without stitching tools together. The free plan is permanent and includes 1 agent, 100 messages a month and 10 minutes of voice. Starter at $40 per month, or $33.33 billed yearly, raises that to 2,000 messages and 25 million characters of knowledge, opens every AI model and connects to 9,000+ apps through Zapier. Dante re-syncs website, Google Drive and Notion content on a schedule, weekly on Starter and daily on Pro, so answers stay current. Credits vary by model, so heavier models give fewer answers per plan. The main limitation is where features sit: leads, the human takeover inbox, branding removal and a phone number all start on the $120 Advanced plan, and the API requires the $400 Pro plan. For a single site that mostly needs answers, Starter is fair value.
What it does well
- +Permanent free plan with no card required
- +Every AI model available from Starter
- +Prices are published in US dollars with add-ons listed
Where it falls short
- −Lead capture and human takeover start at $120 per month
- −Phone numbers are rented separately
- −API access only on the $400 Pro plan
- Free plan
- 1 agent, 100 messages a month, 150K characters of knowledge
- Starter
- $40 per month, 2,000 messages, 2 seats
- Advanced
- $120 per month, 3 agents, 8,000 messages
- Pro
- $400 per month, 10 agents, 30,000 messages, API
- Add-ons
- Extra agent $20 per month; 1,000 credits $20 per month

Free plan for 25 active contacts; Essential from $14 per month billed annually
Quoted from the ManyChat pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Essential Unlimited automations for a growing audience $14/mo $168 billed annually (18% off)
ManyChat solves a narrower problem than the general builders here, and solves it well: turning social engagement into automated conversations. It connects to Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and email, and its builder handles comment replies, follow-to-DM flows and lead capture. Pricing counts active contacts, meaning each person you interact with in a month, regardless of message volume. The free plan covers 25 contacts and 2 channels; Essential costs $14 per month billed annually for 250 contacts with unlimited automations and no ManyChat branding. AI-powered conversations arrive with Manychat AI on the $29 Pro plan, which also raises the limit to 2,500 contacts and 3 channels. Overages are charged per extra contact rather than shutting automations off. Keep in mind that prices shown exclude tax and depend on billing country, and that ManyChat is not designed for help desk or website support bots.
What it does well
- +Cheapest paid entry point in this list at $14 per month billed annually
- +Official Meta-approved partner
- +Overage per contact instead of a hard cutoff
Where it falls short
- −Manychat AI starts on the $29 Pro plan
- −Final price depends on your billing country and excludes tax
- −Built for social messaging, not for website or help desk bots
- Free plan
- 25 active contacts, 2 channels, 1 user
- Essential
- $14 per month billed annually, 250 active contacts
- Pro
- $29 per month billed annually, 2,500 active contacts, Manychat AI
- Business
- $69 per month billed annually, 7,500 active contacts

Landbot has been a visual chatbot builder for more than ten years and now adds AI agents on top of its flow builder. The focus is conversion: lead capture, qualification and routing on websites and WhatsApp. The free plan includes 100 chats a month and the full builder but no AI chats. Starter adds 500 chats, 100 AI chats and 2 seats, and Professional raises that to 2,500 chats and 300 AI chats, removes Landbot branding and unlocks HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, webhooks and the API. WhatsApp with your own number is an add-on on Professional. Overage prices for extra chats and AI chats are published, and Landbot alerts you at 80 and 90 percent of quota. Newer additions include an MCP server and a way to build Landbot agents from inside Claude. Landbot's pricing page served euro prices to us, so we have left the USD price pending.
What it does well
- +Free plan never expires and needs no card
- +Published per-chat and per-AI-chat overage prices
- +EU-based platform that states it does not train models on your chats
Where it falls short
- −Prices displayed in euros from our location, so the USD price is pending
- −Free plan has no AI chats and web only

Business S from $18 per month billed yearly with $20 of AI credits a month
Quoted from the Chatfuel pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Business S For teams ready to sell and support with AI. US$18 per month Billed yearly, US$216/year
Chatfuel is built for businesses whose customers write on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Its AI agent replies to comments and DMs, answers questions about hours, prices and delivery, qualifies leads from click-to-chat ads and books meetings in WhatsApp. Business S costs $18 per month billed yearly and includes $20 of AI credits each month. The pricing page includes a calculator that estimates usage from the kind of bot, the channels and the answer quality you choose, and it shows unit costs such as about $0.0093 per AI reply and $0.020 per Meta Conversions API event. That level of cost detail is rare in this category. The limits are worth noting: there is no free plan, AI replies pause if credits run out, and messages you start on WhatsApp are template messages billed at Meta's rate plus 10 percent. Agencies can manage 3 companies on Agency S at $90 per month billed yearly.
What it does well
- +Low entry price with AI credits included
- +Publishes per-reply and per-event usage estimates
- +Agency plan manages 3 companies from one dashboard
Where it falls short
- −No permanent free plan
- −AI replies pause when credits run out until you top up
- −WhatsApp templates are billed at Meta's rate plus 10%
- Business S
- $18 per month billed yearly, $20 AI credits a month
- Agency S
- $90 per month billed yearly, $100 AI credits, 3 companies

Starter $39 per month billed yearly ($59 monthly) with up to 4k messages
Quoted from the SiteGPT pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Starter plan pricing: $59/month billed monthly, or $468/year billed yearly (equivalent to $39/month).
SiteGPT does one job: answer visitors from your own website content. You point it at your pages and files, and each plan sets clear limits, from 1,000 pages and 4,000 GPT-4.1-mini messages on Starter to 50,000 pages and 40,000 messages on Scale. Starter costs $39 per month billed yearly or $59 monthly. The Growth plan at $79 per month billed yearly is where it gains reach: 2 chatbots, 4 members, API access, monthly auto refresh and connectors for Slack, Messenger, Google Chat, Crisp, Freshdesk Messaging and Zoho SalesIQ. Growth also adds an iOS app so a person can take over from the AI on a phone, plus a weekly digest of questions the bot could not answer. SiteGPT supports 95+ languages and states SOC 2 Type II compliance. Starter is thin for teams, with 1 member and manual refresh only, and every trial needs a card.
What it does well
- +Clear limits on pages, messages and members per plan
- +Supports 95+ languages
- +SOC 2 Type II compliant, per SiteGPT
Where it falls short
- −Starter allows 1 chatbot and 1 member
- −Integrations and API need the $79 Growth plan
- −Free trial requires a credit card
- Starter
- $39 per month billed yearly, 1 chatbot, up to 4k messages
- Growth
- $79 per month billed yearly, 2 chatbots, up to 10k messages

Free plan with 200 chats a month; Starter $39 per month
Quoted from the Typebot pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Starter $39 /month
Typebot is the open-source option in this list. It is a visual builder for chat forms and conversational flows, with 20+ blocks such as text fields, buttons, date pickers and payment inputs, and integrations with OpenAI, Google Sheets, Zapier, Make and plain HTTP requests. You can embed a bot as a container, popup or bubble on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Framer or a React app. The hosted free plan gives unlimited bots and 200 chats a month, and a chat counts once per user session however many messages are sent. Starter costs $39 per month for 2 seats and 2,000 chats, and removes branding; Pro at $89 adds WhatsApp, custom domains and deeper analytics. Typebot only bills monthly because pricing follows usage. It fits lead capture and guided flows better than document-trained support agents, which you would have to assemble yourself with the OpenAI block.
What it does well
- +Unlimited bots on the free plan
- +Open source with no vendor lock-in
- +A chat counts once per session, not per message
Where it falls short
- −No annual billing discount
- −WhatsApp and custom domains need the $89 Pro plan
- −Built more for guided chats and forms than for knowledge-trained agents
- Free plan
- Unlimited typebots, 200 chats a month
- Starter
- $39 per month, 2 seats, 2,000 chats
- Pro
- $89 per month, 5 seats, 10,000 chats, WhatsApp
- Extra chats

Standard $99 per month with 10 agents and 1,000 queries; 7-day free trial
Quoted from the CustomGPT.ai pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Every CustomGPT.ai plan starts with a 7-day free trial, from Standard at $99 a month to Premium at $499 a month and custom Enterprise plans.
CustomGPT.ai targets organizations that care most about answering correctly from a lot of material. Even the $99 Standard plan includes 10 agents, 5,000 documents per agent, 60 million words of storage and access to its RAG API, which is more capacity than any other entry plan here. CustomGPT.ai says it has 100+ integrations for ingesting content from websites and sources such as Shopify, Wix and Notion, and it supports 92 languages. Premium at $499 per month adds 25 agents, 5,000 queries, website auto-sync and removal of CustomGPT.ai branding. Enterprise adds forward-deployed engineers, SSO and custom limits. The weak spot is query volume relative to price: 1,000 queries a month on Standard is modest for a public website bot, and there is no free plan, only a 7-day trial. Yearly billing saves 10 percent.
What it does well
- +High document and storage limits on every plan
- +API included from the entry plan
- +10 agents on the cheapest plan
Where it falls short
- −Highest entry price in this list
- −Only 1,000 queries a month on Standard
- −Branding removal requires the $499 Premium plan
- Standard
- $99 per month, 10 agents, 1,000 queries, 3 team members

No US price was listed when we checked. See the Voiceflow pricing page.
Voiceflow is the most configurable builder in this list and the least transparent on price. It lets teams combine agentic playbooks, where the model works out how to resolve a task, with deterministic workflows for steps that must happen in a fixed order, all under global instructions and guardrails. Agents can run on web, in apps, on WhatsApp and SMS, and by voice, and you can choose among major LLM providers or bring your own model. A test suite simulates conversations, LLM-powered evaluations score agent performance, and environments separate development, staging and production. Voiceflow lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA, and says it has 3,000+ customers. The pricing page shows two paths: an agency plan with a free trial and usage-based billing, and a business plan that requires a demo or a pricing request. No dollar figures are published, so we scored value conservatively and left pricing pending.
What it does well
- +Deep control over agent logic for complex use cases
- +Voice and chat from one platform
- +SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA listed
Where it falls short
- −No public prices on the pricing page
- −Business plans go through a demo or pricing request
- −More setup work than the self-serve builders here
- Agency plan
- Free trial, usage-based billing with optional auto top-ups
- Business plan
- Pricing on request
- Channels
- Web, app, WhatsApp, SMS and voice
- Customers
- 3,000+, per Voiceflow
- Security
- SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA
Before you pick a product or a plan
Match the billing unit to your traffic
Botpress counts conversations, Chatbase and Dante AI count message credits, ManyChat counts active contacts and CustomGPT.ai counts queries. A bot with long chats is cheaper on per-conversation pricing, while a bot with many short visits may be cheaper on credits. Estimate a month of traffic in each unit before comparing plans.
Decide between knowledge bots and flow bots
Chatbase, SiteGPT, Dante AI and CustomGPT.ai are trained on your documents and answer in free text. Typebot, Landbot and ManyChat start from visual flows with buttons and inputs, with AI added inside the flow. Botpress and Voiceflow do both. Support questions favor knowledge bots, while lead capture and qualification favor flows.
Check which channels the entry plan includes
Chatbase includes WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram on its cheapest plan, while Typebot adds WhatsApp only on Pro and Landbot charges extra for WhatsApp with your own number. ManyChat and Chatfuel are built for social messaging first. Make sure your main channel is on the plan you are pricing.
Price branding removal and handoff
Several builders put white-label chat and human takeover above the entry tier. Chatbase charges $99 per month to remove its branding, Dante AI and SiteGPT put handoff on their second plan, and CustomGPT.ai removes branding only on Premium. Add these to the comparison if customers will see the bot.
