The short version
Claude is the agent to try first: Cowork runs tasks across your folders, tools and a built-in browser, keeps scheduled work running when your laptop is closed, and starts at $17 a month. ChatGPT is a close second with Plan mode and team tasks. Zapier Agents is the pick for acting across thousands of apps on a small budget, and Lindy for an assistant that lives in Slack and email. MindStudio and Gumloop are the builders for teams that want custom agents, n8n is the self-hosted option, and Copilot Studio, Agentforce and Relevance AI are enterprise platforms that pay off when you already run on Microsoft or Salesforce or want a managed rollout.
Short answer
Claude is the best AI agent for people who want to hand off whole tasks across files and apps in 2026, with Pro at $17 a month billed annually; ChatGPT suits teams that want approval-first agent work and 1,400+ plugins; MindStudio is the cheapest verified paid plan at $16 a month billed yearly, and Zapier Agents has a free plan with 400 activities a month.
This list is for people and teams choosing an AI agent that takes actions, such as running scheduled reports, working in apps, triaging inboxes or answering customers, rather than a chatbot that only replies. It mixes ready-made agents you brief in plain language with builders you use to design your own. We compared documented features and published prices on each vendor's own pages and scored capabilities at 40%, ease of setup at 30% and value at 30%. Starting prices are the cheapest paid plan in USD. ChatGPT and n8n did not show USD prices from our location and Relevance AI publishes no price, so those three are marked pending.

Price
Free plan; Pro $17 per month billed annually or $20 monthly; Max $100 per month
Quoted from the Claude pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$17 Per month with annual subscription discount
Claude takes the top spot because its agent mode, Cowork, is now built into the main app instead of sold as a separate product. You describe the outcome and Claude works in the folders and tools you allow, opens a browser in its own side panel when a task needs a website, and shows each file, tool and decision as it goes. Tasks can be scheduled daily, weekly or monthly and keep running when your laptop is closed, which suits recurring reports and reconciliation work. Anthropic lists Cowork on web, desktop and mobile for paid plans. Pro costs $17 a month billed annually and adds task hand-off, Claude in Chrome and Claude for Microsoft 365. The drawbacks are opaque limits, which reset every 5 hours and every week, and the fact that admin controls such as SSO and audit logs start at the Team plan.
What it does well
- +Pro costs $17 a month on annual billing, among the lowest entry prices here
- +Free plan includes web search, file creation, code execution and connectors
- +Large tasks are split into chunks that run in parallel
Where it falls short
- −Hand off and schedule tasks needs a paid plan
- −Usage is capped every 5 hours and every week rather than by a fixed task count
- −SSO, audit logs and central billing need Team or Enterprise
- Free plan
- Yes, limited usage every 5 hours and every week
- Pro
- $17 per month billed annually, $20 monthly
- Max
- $100 per month, 5x Pro usage
- Ultra
- $200 per month, no 5-hour limit
- Team standard seat
- $20 per seat per month billed annually

ChatGPT is a close second. OpenAI now groups its agent features under ChatGPT Work, which pulls context from your apps, files and browser to produce documents, presentations, spreadsheets, interactive sites and analyses. Plan mode is a useful safeguard: ChatGPT gathers context, asks questions and writes a step-by-step plan that you approve or change before anything runs. You can schedule one-time or recurring tasks, and team tasks let colleagues share and refine the same recurring job. OpenAI lists more than 1,400 plugins and a desktop browser with multiple tabs. Free and Go users get ChatGPT Work only on desktop, while Plus and above add web and mobile. We could not confirm USD prices because the pricing page loaded without them from our location, so the price is marked pending and the value score is conservative.
What it does well
- +Plan mode lets you approve the approach before the agent acts
- +ChatGPT Work is available on desktop on every plan, including Free
- +Team tasks let colleagues edit and improve shared recurring work
Where it falls short
- −Pricing page showed no USD figures from our location, so prices are pending
- −Full ChatGPT Work on web and mobile needs Plus or higher
- −ChatGPT Space for team editing needs Pro, Business or Enterprise
- Free plan
- Yes, with limited ChatGPT Work access on desktop

Free plan with 400 activities a month; Agents Pro $33.33 per month billed annually ($400 a year)
Quoted from the Zapier Agents pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Agents Pro $400 billed annually $33.33 /month
Zapier Agents ranks third because it pairs a low price with Zapier's app catalog, which the vendor puts at 9,000+ apps. You build an agent with help from Zapier Copilot, give it company knowledge, and let it run behaviors on triggers or answer in chat. Every Agents plan includes live data sources, web browsing and a Chrome extension. The free plan covers 400 activities a month and Agents Pro raises that to 1,500 for $400 a year, or $33.33 a month. Zapier counts an activity each time the agent takes an action, browses the web or looks up attached knowledge, so plan sizing matters. Templates cover meeting prep, enterprise lead qualification, content research and Zendesk ticket handling. Limits: agent sharing and audit logs are reserved for Enterprise, and Zapier notes that Agents does not yet honor app restrictions set on Enterprise accounts.
What it does well
- +Free plan includes 400 activities a month
- +Widest app coverage on this list
- +Agents Pro is $33.33 a month on annual billing
Where it falls short
- −Activities cover chat, browsing and knowledge lookups, so busy agents use them fast
- −Agent sharing across an organization needs Enterprise
- −Agents does not support app and action restrictions on Enterprise accounts
- Free plan
- Yes, 400 activities per month
- Agents Pro
- $400 billed annually, $33.33 per month, 1,500 activities
- Agents Enterprise
- Contact sales, custom activities
- Apps

- Team accounts
- Share a pool of Agents activities

$50 in free credits for 7 days; Team from $49.99 per user per month for 5,000 credits
Quoted from the Lindy pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Every active user in your workspace is billed, from $49.99 a month for 5,000 credits each.
Lindy is built as a teammate rather than a workflow tool. It sits in Slack threads, manages inboxes, drafts replies in your voice, records and summarizes meetings, books calls and sends daily briefs, with 40+ skills and support for custom ones. Lindy lists 1,500+ integrations and MCP support, plus computer use and model selection. Anything with outside impact, such as sending an email or updating a ticket, waits for approval, while read-only lookups do not. Pricing is credit based: each active user pays from $49.99 a month for 5,000 credits, all credits pool across the team, and top-ups cost $10 per 1,000. Lindy says everyday asks use 2 to 250 credits and big builds up to 2,500. The value score is lower because every user who touches Lindy, including via a Slack mention, takes a paid seat after a 7-day trial.
What it does well
- +Actions with outside impact wait for approval
- +Credits pool across the whole team
- +Lindy pauses instead of billing extra when credits run out
Where it falls short
- −Every active user is billed, from $49.99 a month
- −Free credits last only 7 days
- −Monthly credits do not roll over
- Free trial
- $50 in credits, lasts 7 days, no card
- Team
- From $49.99 per user per month, 5,000 credits
- Top-ups
- $10 per 1,000 credits
- Integrations

Free plan with one agent; Individual $16 per month billed yearly or $20 monthly, plus model usage
Quoted from the MindStudio pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$20 /month + usage $16 /month + usage billed yearly
MindStudio is the value pick for people who want to build their own agents. The free plan gives you one agent and 1,000 runs a month, and Individual unlocks unlimited agents and runs for $16 a month billed yearly or $20 monthly. Model costs are billed separately as usage, but you get access to 200+ models through the MindStudio Service Router without managing API keys, or you can bring your own. The vendor lists 1,000+ pre-built integrations and 100+ ready-made agents, including Deep Research and agents that generate images, video and audio. Agents can run from a Chrome extension. The Business plan, priced on request, adds team workspaces, SSO, audit logs, budgets, usage alerts and a self-hosted option. The tradeoff against Claude or ChatGPT is that you design the agent rather than just describing a task.
What it does well
- +Cheapest verified paid plan on this list at $16 a month billed yearly
- +Free plan includes one agent and 1,000 runs a month
- +Unlimited agents and runs on Individual
Where it falls short
- −Model usage is billed on top of the plan price
- −Team workspaces and collaborator permissions need the custom Business plan
- −Builders still design each agent themselves

Pro from $37 per month with a 14-day free trial; Enterprise custom
Quoted from the Gumloop pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Pro Starts at $37 / month
Gumloop focuses on agents that a whole company can build and share. Pro starts at $37 a month and includes unlimited agents, seats and teams, 20,000 credits a month, 35+ models and the option to bring your own API keys. Company Brain gives agents shared company context, and developers can drive the platform through the Gumloop MCP and CLI. The homepage shows agents for churn prevention, account research, outbound writing and ticket triage that connect to tools such as Slack, HubSpot, Gong, Gmail and Salesforce. Workflows are now labeled legacy, a sign Gumloop is moving users toward agents. The downsides: there is no permanent free plan, only a 14-day trial, and governance features such as role-based access, audit logs, SCIM and AI spend insights are Enterprise only.
What it does well
- +Unlimited seats on a $37 Pro plan
- +14-day free trial
- +Model choice per agent, including bring your own keys
Where it falls short
- −No permanent free plan
- −Role-based access, audit logs and SCIM need Enterprise

Free self-hosted Community Edition; cloud plans priced per workflow execution. See vendor pricing (USD check pending)
No US price was listed when we checked. See the n8n pricing page.
n8n treats an AI agent as one more step in a workflow, which gives technical teams fine control. Agents can call any of n8n's 600+ native integrations and your own workflows as tools, and you set which tools an agent can reach and which actions need a human. Logging, versioning and execution history are built in, and 9,000+ community templates help you start. The self-hosted Community Edition is free on GitHub, which matters for teams that must keep data in-house. Cloud plans include unlimited users and workflows and are priced by monthly workflow executions, regardless of how many steps each run has. From our location the pricing page showed only euro prices, so the USD price is pending. The ease of setup score is lower because n8n expects you to design workflows rather than describe a goal.
What it does well
- +Self-hosting keeps data in-house
- +Every plan includes unlimited users, workflows and integrations
- +Pricing counts executions regardless of workflow complexity
Where it falls short
- −Pricing page showed euros from our location, so USD prices are pending
- −Building agents takes more technical skill than chat-first tools
- −Execution caps apply on cloud plans

Price
$200 per tenant per month for 25,000 Copilot Credits, or pay as you go
Quoted from the Microsoft Copilot Studio pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Copilot Studio is sold as tenant-wide Copilot Credit packs of 25,000 Copilot Credits each, priced at $200.00 /pack/month.
Copilot Studio has the deepest feature set for large organizations, but it asks more of the buyer. It builds chat and voice agents, autonomous agents that plan and escalate work, workflows and apps in one studio, and it connects them through 1,500+ pre-built connectors, Work IQ and MCP servers. Multi-agent orchestration routes tasks between Microsoft and partner agents, and evaluations, analytics, version control, release pipelines and Purview audit logs support a proper development lifecycle. Pricing is tenant-wide: packs of 25,000 Copilot Credits cost $200 a month, or you pay as you go through Azure, and new Azure accounts get a $200 credit. Microsoft notes that an Azure subscription is required and that credits consumed vary by action. That makes Copilot Studio a strong fit for IT-led rollouts and a poor one for a solo user who wants quick results.
What it does well
- +Deep governance: Entra ID, Defender, audit logs and environment controls
- +Model choice includes 11K+ models through Azure AI Foundry
- +Budgets and usage limits by user group
Where it falls short
- −An Azure subscription is required
- −Credit packs cost $200 a month per pack
- −Credit consumption varies by action, which makes costs harder to predict
- Credit pack
- $200 per month for 25,000 Copilot Credits
- Pay as you go
- Yes, with an Azure subscription
- Azure credit
- $200 for new free Azure accounts
- Connectors
- 1,500+ pre-built
- Fortune 500 use
- 90% has used Copilot Studio, per Microsoft

Agentforce User License $5 per user per month plus Flex Credits ($500 per 100,000); Coworker $50 per user per month
Quoted from the Salesforce Agentforce pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Deploy Agentforce agents company wide for all your employees. $ 5 USD/User/Month (Requires Flex Credits)
Agentforce is the agent layer of Salesforce, so its strengths and limits both come from the CRM. Builders get Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder and Agent Script, and agents respect the Salesforce security and access policies you already have. Pricing has three paths. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000 and are spent per action, which also covers Agentforce Voice. Customer-facing agents can be billed at $2 per conversation. Per-user options include the Agentforce User License at $5 a month, which still requires Flex Credits, the Agentforce Coworker license at $50 a month with searches included, and Flat Fee Access at $125. Salesforce Foundations lets customers start for $0. The flexibility is real, but so is the complexity, and teams without Salesforce CRM data get much less out of it, which drags down setup and value scores.
What it does well
- +Several pricing models: per action, per conversation or per user
- +Agents work on Salesforce CRM data with existing permissions
- +Salesforce Foundations lets existing customers start for $0
Where it falls short
- −Most value depends on an existing Salesforce org
- −Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000 on top of user licenses
- −Pricing choices take time to compare
- Flex Credits
- $500 per 100,000 credits
- Conversations
- $2 per conversation
- User License
- $5 per user per month, requires Flex Credits
- Coworker License
- $50 per user per month
- Flat Fee Access
- $125 per user per month

Relevance AI now sells a single Enterprise plan aimed at companies building an AI workforce. Its Invent builder turns a plain-language description into an agent with prompts, tools and evaluations, and engineers can do the same work over MCP from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. The Enterprise plan lists unlimited agents, tools, users and projects, 2,000+ integrations, calling and meeting agents, enterprise triggers, evaluations, A/B testing, SSO, role-based access, audit logs and a dedicated account manager. The agents page describes a phased rollout where a pilot is evaluated and made production ready from week four. There is no public price, so we marked pricing pending and scored value conservatively. Smaller teams that want to start today will find the self-serve tools higher on this list a better fit.
What it does well
- +Evaluations and A/B testing are built in
- +Unlimited agents, users and projects on Enterprise
- +Dedicated account manager
Where it falls short
- −No public price or self-serve plan on the pricing page
- −Sales-led onboarding takes weeks rather than minutes
- −Value is hard to judge without a quote
- Pricing
- Custom, talk to sales

Before you pick a product or a plan
Decide between briefing an agent and building one
Claude, ChatGPT and Lindy take a goal in plain language and work out the steps. MindStudio, Gumloop, n8n and Copilot Studio ask you to design the agent, which takes longer but gives tighter control over tools and outputs. Zapier Agents and Relevance AI sit in between, with builders that draft the agent for you.
Check the billing unit, not just the price
Each vendor meters work differently. Zapier counts activities, Lindy and Gumloop count credits, Copilot Studio sells packs of 25,000 Copilot Credits for $200 a month, Agentforce charges $500 per 100,000 Flex Credits or $2 per conversation, n8n counts workflow executions and Claude caps usage every 5 hours and every week. Estimate how many actions a typical task uses before comparing plans.
Look for approval steps
Agents that send email or update records should ask first. Lindy waits for approval on anything with outside impact, ChatGPT's Plan mode shows the plan before work starts, and n8n lets you require a human for chosen actions. Claude shows each file, tool and decision as it works so you can redirect it.
Match the agent to where your data lives
Agentforce works best on Salesforce CRM data and Copilot Studio needs an Azure subscription. Zapier Agents reaches 9,000+ apps, Lindy 1,500+ and Copilot Studio 1,500+ connectors. If data must stay on your servers, n8n's Community Edition is free to self-host.
Start free or on a trial
Claude, ChatGPT, Zapier Agents, MindStudio and n8n have free options. Lindy gives $50 in credits for 7 days and Gumloop a 14-day trial. Run one real recurring task through two candidates before paying for a year.
Questions readers ask
- What is the best AI agent in 2026?
- Claude ranks first on our list because Cowork runs multi-step tasks across your files, tools and a built-in browser and can run scheduled work unattended, from $17 a month billed annually. ChatGPT is second with Plan mode, team tasks and more than 1,400 plugins.
- Is there a free AI agent?
- Yes. Zapier Agents has a free plan with 400 activities a month, MindStudio's free plan includes one agent and 1,000 runs a month, and Claude and ChatGPT have free plans with limited agent features. n8n's Community Edition is free to self-host.
- What is the cheapest paid AI agent plan?
- MindStudio Individual costs $16 a month billed yearly, plus model usage. Claude Pro is $17 a month billed annually and Zapier Agents Pro is $33.33 a month billed annually. Agentforce's User License starts at $5 per user a month but also requires Flex Credits and a Salesforce org.
- What is the difference between an AI agent and a chatbot?
- A chatbot answers in a conversation. An agent takes actions: it opens apps, browses the web, edits files, sends drafts for approval and can run on a schedule. Every product on this list can act in other tools, not only reply.
- Which AI agent is best for enterprises?
- Microsoft Copilot Studio suits Microsoft 365 and Azure shops that need lifecycle management and audit logs, Salesforce Agentforce suits companies whose customer data lives in Salesforce, and Relevance AI offers a sales-led rollout with built-in evaluations.
