The short version
Intercom Fin is the most complete AI agent here: it runs on chat, email, voice and messaging apps, works inside other help desks, and charges only when it resolves or routes a conversation. Freshdesk is the value pick because every plan includes 500 AI agent sessions. Zendesk suits larger teams that want AI agents, voice and a big app marketplace on one contract. Gorgias is the specialist for Shopify stores, Help Scout and Tidio are the easy starts for small teams, and Salesforce Agentforce only makes sense if your service team already runs on Salesforce.
Short answer
Intercom Fin is the best AI customer support agent for software and digital businesses in 2026, at $0.99 per outcome plus seats from $19 per month; Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent suits small teams that want 500 AI sessions bundled into a $19 per agent plan. Help Scout is the cheapest way in: a free plan for 5 users, with its AI agent billed at $0.75 per resolution.
This list is for support leads, founders and operations managers choosing an AI agent that answers customer questions on its own and hands the rest to people. We compared documented features and published prices for 9 products, from help desks with a built-in AI agent to standalone agent builders. Scores cover capabilities, ease of setup and value, weighted 40, 30 and 30. Because most vendors now bill AI work per resolution, session or conversation, each entry shows that unit next to the seat price. Prices are in US dollars as shown on the vendor's own page on the day we checked.

Fin at $0.99 per outcome; Intercom Essential seats from $19 per seat per month for new customers (list price $29)
Quoted from the Intercom Fin pricing page on November 6, 2026:
From $0.99 per Fin outcome $29 $19 per seat/mo New customers save 35%
Fin is the reference point for this category because it covers the most ground. Intercom documents Fin on chat, email, voice, social channels, Slack and an API, with voice options in 28 languages and messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Discord in 45 languages. You can run it inside Intercom's own help desk or keep Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot or Freshdesk and add Fin on top with no seat costs. Billing follows outcomes: a resolution, a procedure handoff or a routing counts at $0.99, while a plain handover to a human is not charged. Teams can train it on help center articles, PDFs and tools like Notion and Confluence, then test changes with simulations before release. The catch is that the full stack adds up: help desk seats, Copilot at $29 per agent and the $100 Pro add-on for deeper analysis are all separate lines on the bill.
What it does well
- +You pay only for outcomes, not for every conversation the AI touches
- +Voice in 28 languages and messaging apps in 45 languages
- +Can be added to an existing help desk without seat fees
Where it falls short
- −Standalone Fin has a 50 outcome monthly minimum
- −Qualifications on sales flows cost $9.99 each
- −Copilot and the Pro analytics add-on are billed separately
- AI price
- $0.99 per outcome
- Help desk seats
- Essential $29, Advanced $85, Expert $132 per seat per month

Growth from $19 per agent per month billed annually, with the first 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions included
Quoted from the Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$19 /agent/month, billed annually Launch AI-powered service over email Growth Best suits teams that want: Freddy AI Agent (first 500 sessions included)
Freshdesk takes a different route to AI pricing: instead of charging from the first resolution, it includes the first 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions on every paid plan, starting with Growth at $19 per agent per month billed annually. A session is one interaction between a customer and the AI agent, and on email Freshworks counts a 72-hour window from the first message as a single session, however many replies the AI sends. That makes costs easy to forecast for teams with modest volume. The help desk itself is mature, with ticketing, a shared inbox, a customer portal and a knowledge base on the entry plan. The trade-offs appear as you grow. Additional sessions cost $49 per 100, multilingual support needs Pro, and connector tasks and MCP actions that let the agent work in other systems are paid add-ons. Freddy AI Copilot for human agents is another $29 per agent.
What it does well
- +AI agent sessions are included rather than billed from the first resolution
- +Low entry seat price for a full help desk
- +An email thread counts as one session for 72 hours
Where it falls short
- −Extra sessions cost $49 per 100, which is more per unit than some rivals
- −Multilingual help desk starts on Pro at $55 per agent
- −Copilot is an extra $29 per agent per month
- Included AI sessions
- First 500 on every paid plan
- Extra sessions
- $49 per 100
- Plans
- Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89 per agent per month billed annually

Support Team from $19 per agent per month billed annually; extra automated resolutions $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go
Quoted from the Zendesk AI agents pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$19 agent/month paid yearly
Zendesk includes AI agents in every Support and Suite plan and bills extra AI work by the automated resolution: $1.50 each when you commit to a volume, or $2.00 on pay-as-you-go. Zendesk says its agents work across social, web, mobile, voice and email channels and support 80 languages, switching automatically based on what the customer writes. They can handle multi-step requests, ask clarifying questions and take actions in connected systems, and the Forethought acquisition adds agents that can run outside Zendesk too. The platform's main advantage is breadth: ticketing, messaging, voice, a knowledge base and a marketplace of more than 1,800 apps under one vendor. The main drawback is cost at scale. Each plan includes only a handful of automated resolutions per agent, messaging and voice need Suite plans from $55 per agent, and Copilot for human agents is a further $50 per agent per month.
What it does well
- +Very broad channel coverage, including voice
- +Large marketplace of 1,800+ apps and integrations
- +AI agents are included in every Support and Suite plan
Where it falls short
- −Only 5 to 10 automated resolutions per agent per month are included
- −Suite plans with messaging and voice start at $55 per agent
- −Copilot is a $50 per agent add-on
- Languages
- 80, per Zendesk
- Included resolutions
- 5 per agent per month on Support Team and Suite Team
- Extra resolutions
- $1.50 committed, $2.00 pay-as-you-go

Starter with AI Agent from $40 per month billed monthly, including 50 tickets and 30 automated interactions
Quoted from the Gorgias AI Agent pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$40 /mo Billed monthly · cancel anytime Included 50 tickets / month 30 automated interactions
Gorgias is the ecommerce specialist on this list. Its AI Agent is trained on a store's help center, catalog, policies and past conversations, and it can act in Shopify rather than only answer: refunds, cancellations, order edits, address changes, package tracking, returns with prepaid labels, discounts and subscription changes are all listed as built-in actions, with custom actions available through any API. Brand voice can be set per channel across email, chat, SMS and social. An assistant called Gaia lets the support team configure skills and pull reports in plain language. Pricing is based on ticket volume instead of seats, which suits stores with seasonal staff. The Starter plan with AI Agent costs $40 a month and includes 30 automated interactions, after which each costs $1.50 on that plan. Outside ecommerce, much of what makes Gorgias useful does not apply.
What it does well
- +Order actions in Shopify are built in rather than custom work
- +Priced by ticket volume, not by agent seat
- +Setup is designed for CX teams without engineers
Where it falls short
- −Built around ecommerce, so less suited to SaaS or B2B support
- −Starter includes only 30 automated interactions
- −Overage is $1.50 per automated interaction on monthly plans
- Pricing basis
- Tickets and automated interactions per month, not seats
- Integrations
- 100+ ecommerce integrations
- Brands
- 17,000+ per Gorgias
- Basic plan with AI
- $90 per month billed monthly, 300 tickets and 30 automated interactions

Free plan for 5 users; Standard from $25 per user per month; AI agent at $0.75 per resolution
Quoted from the Help Scout AI Answers pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Envoy Add-on $ 0.75 / resolution Scale capacity with an AI assistant that instantly resolves customer requests.
Help Scout keeps things simple. The core product is a shared inbox, a Docs knowledge base and a chat Messenger, and its AI agent, sold as an add-on and described as AI Answers, resolves customer questions from your knowledge base and other sources, passing anything complex to the team. It costs $0.75 per resolution, the lowest per-resolution price we found among the vendors that publish one, and Help Scout offers a 3-month free trial of the add-on. The free plan covers 5 users, one inbox and one Docs site, so a very small team can start without a contract. Paid plans run from $25 per user per month on Standard, with AI Drafts unlimited on Plus. The limits are scope and depth. Help Scout documents email and chat but no voice agent, and integrations with Salesforce, Jira and HubSpot plus advanced workflows sit on the $45 Plus plan.
What it does well
- +Lowest published per-resolution price in this list
- +Permanent free plan for up to 5 users
- +3-month free trial of the AI add-on
Where it falls short
- −Fewer documented channels than Intercom or Zendesk
- −No voice AI documented
- −Advanced workflows and integrations need Plus at $45 per user
- Free plan
- 5 users, 1 inbox, 1 Docs site
- AI price
- $0.75 per resolution, billed monthly

Tidio LyroA live chat and help desk tool with the Lyro AI agent, which answers only from content you provide.

Price
Free plan; Starter from $24.17 per month billed annually; Lyro alone from $32.50 per month for 50 conversations
Quoted from the Tidio Lyro pricing page on November 6, 2026:
$ 24.17 /mo. 100 Billable conversations 7-day free trial This plan includes: 50 Lyro AI Agent conversations (one-off)
Tidio pairs live chat and ticketing with Lyro, an AI agent that Tidio says works only from the content and guidance you supply, which limits made-up answers. You add it to a website in a few clicks, feed it support content and set handoff rules for sensitive topics or high-value customers. Lyro charges per conversation rather than per reply, so a customer asking three questions in one chat counts once, and Tidio's Lyro page quotes $0.50 per conversation. The free plan includes a lifetime allowance of 50 Lyro conversations, and the Starter plan costs $24.17 per month billed annually. Tidio also lists Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email integrations. The limits show up for larger teams: connecting Lyro to Zendesk, Intercom or Salesforce requires the custom-priced Premium plan, branding removal costs extra, and the Plus plan starts at $300 per month plus usage.
What it does well
- +Free plan and a one-off allowance of 50 Lyro conversations
- +Multiple questions in one conversation cost the same
- +Website install takes a few clicks without technical knowledge
Where it falls short
- −Connecting Lyro to other help desks requires the Premium plan
- −Removing Tidio branding is a paid add-on
- −Plus starts at $300 per month plus usage
- Free Lyro allowance
- First 50 conversations, lifetime
- Lyro standalone
- From $32.50 per month for 50 conversations
- Per conversation
- $0.50, per Tidio's Lyro page

HubSpot's Customer Agent lives in Service Hub and, according to HubSpot, answers customer questions across chat, email, forms and calling, escalating to your team when it cannot help. Its main appeal is the shared CRM: the agent works from the same contact records that sales and marketing use, so a support conversation can inform a renewal or an upsell. AI usage is metered in HubSpot Credits, with 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 credits a month included on Starter, Professional and Enterprise, and HubSpot lets admins set credit limits per action. The pricing page lists the customer agent from Professional upward, so it is not part of the cheap Starter tier. When we checked from our location the page showed euro prices only, so the USD price is marked pending. For teams not already on HubSpot, Intercom or Zendesk offer more support-specific depth for a similar outlay.
What it does well
- +Uses the same contact data as HubSpot's CRM
- +Free Service Hub plan for up to 2 users
- +Monthly HubSpot Credits are included on paid plans
Where it falls short
- −The customer agent is listed from the Professional plan up
- −AI usage draws on credits, which makes costs harder to predict
- −We could not confirm a USD price from this location
- Free plan
- Up to 2 users
- Customer agent
- Listed on Professional and Enterprise
- Included credits
- 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 per month on Starter, Professional and Enterprise
- Starter user limit

Hobby from $32 per month billed yearly ($40 monthly) for 700 message credits
Quoted from the Chatbase pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Hobby $32 $40 $40 $40 /month billed yearly Save $96 yearly The ideal entry point to Chatbase. 700 message credits/month
Chatbase is a builder rather than a help desk. You connect data sources, describe the agent's role, set guardrails and write procedures in plain language, such as how to look up an order and check a return window, with actions like order lookups built into the steps. Agents can be tested against real scenarios, then published to chat, WhatsApp, email, Slack and other channels. Chatbase now adds a helpdesk inbox where AI and human agents share conversations, starting on the Basic plan. Pricing is based on message credits: Hobby costs $32 per month billed yearly for 700 credits, Basic $120 for 4,000 and Business $400 for 15,000, with extra credits at $40 per 1,000. That model suits low-volume or experimental use, but credits get used quickly on a busy site, there is no free plan, and branding removal is a $99 monthly add-on.
What it does well
- +Fast to build and publish an agent without code
- +Testing tools to check answers before going live
- +Choice of underlying AI models
Where it falls short
- −No permanent free plan
- −Hobby includes only 700 message credits a month
- −Removing Chatbase branding costs $99 per month
- Plans
- Hobby $32, Basic $120, Business $400 per month billed yearly
- Extra credits
- $40 per 1,000 message credits
- Extra agents
- $25 per AI agent per month

$2 per conversation, or Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits; Salesforce Foundations is free to start
Quoted from the Salesforce Agentforce Service pricing page on November 6, 2026:
Pay per Conversation as you scale Agentforce. $ 2 USD/Per conversation
Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for building AI agents, and for support teams it plugs straight into Service Cloud cases, knowledge and workflows. Salesforce publishes two usage models: $2 per conversation, or Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits, where each action consumes credits. Builders get Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder and Agent Script, plus Agentforce Voice for phone interactions, and the Agentforce add-on for Service is listed at $125 per user per month for unmetered employee use. The free Salesforce Foundations tier lets teams start experimenting. The power is real, but so is the overhead. Getting value usually means a Salesforce admin or implementation partner, most editions and add-ons are sold through sales, and the AI fees sit on top of Service Cloud licenses. For a company not already on Salesforce, the other agents here are faster and cheaper to stand up.
What it does well
- +Deep access to Service Cloud data and workflows
- +Two billing models to fit different usage patterns
- +Free Salesforce Foundations tier to start building
Where it falls short
- −Setup usually needs a Salesforce admin or partner
- −Most add-ons and editions are sold through sales
- −Total cost depends on Service Cloud licenses on top of usage
- Per conversation
- $2
- Flex Credits
- $500 per 100,000 credits
- Service add-on
- $125 per user per month
- Agentforce User License
- $5 per user per month, requires Flex Credits

Before you pick a product or a plan
Price the AI unit, not just the seat
Most vendors in this list charge a seat fee for human agents and a separate fee each time the AI resolves something. Fin charges $0.99 per outcome, Zendesk $1.50 to $2.00 per automated resolution, Help Scout $0.75 per resolution and Salesforce $2 per conversation. Multiply your monthly ticket volume by a realistic automation rate, then by that unit price, before you compare plans.
Decide whether to switch help desks
Some agents only run inside their own help desk. Others plug into the tool you already use: Fin works with Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot and Freshdesk, and Tidio's Lyro connects to Zendesk, Intercom and Salesforce on its Premium plan. If migration is off the table, start with an agent that sits on top of your current system.
Check which channels the AI covers
An agent that only answers web chat leaves email and phone queues untouched. Fin, Zendesk and HubSpot's customer agent document voice or calling support, while Gorgias, Tidio and Chatbase document messaging apps such as Instagram or WhatsApp. Match the list to where your customers actually write in.
Look for actions, not just answers
The biggest savings come when the AI can finish a task, such as a refund, an order edit or an address change, instead of linking to a help article. Ask each vendor which actions are built in and whether you can call your own API. Gorgias lists Shopify actions out of the box, and Chatbase lets you define actions inside a procedure.
