Zed is a code editor first and an AI tool second, which is its appeal. The Personal plan is free forever and gives unlimited use with your own API keys or with external agents such as Claude Agent and Codex CLI, and Zed supports providers including Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, GitHub Copilot, Google AI, Mistral, Ollama, OpenAI and OpenRouter. Pro costs $10 a month for unlimited edit predictions and $5 of hosted model tokens, with further usage billed at API list price plus 10% and an optional spending cap. A 14-day Pro trial needs no credit card. Business at $30 per seat adds org-wide model policies, data governance controls, unified spend visibility and role-based access, but SSO and SCIM are still planned rather than available. Zed runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It ranks lower on capabilities because its own agent features are thinner than the dedicated agent products.
