GitHub Copilot ranks first because it pairs a low price with the widest reach. Pro costs $10 per user per month and adds unlimited completions and next edit suggestions, code review on pull requests, Copilot in the cloud and access to third-party agents from Claude Code and Codex. It runs in VS Code, Visual Studio, Xcode, JetBrains IDEs, Neovim, Eclipse, Zed and on github.com, so a team rarely has to change editors to adopt it. The free plan is usable on its own, with 2,000 completions a month, Copilot CLI and agent mode. The limit to watch is the credit system: agent mode, code review, the CLI and cloud work all consume GitHub AI credits, and Pro includes $15 of them a month. Heavy agent users will want Pro+ at $39 or Max at $100, and Pro+ also adds premium models and audit logs.
