Heroku ranks eighth: it is still one of the easiest ways to ship an app, but it costs more for the same memory than most rivals. You deploy with Git or Docker, and Heroku handles container orchestration, OS patching and certificates. Eco dynos cost $5 a month with 0.5 GB of RAM, but they sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity and are for personal accounts only. Basic dynos at $7 stay on and allow 10 process types, and Standard-1X at $25 adds horizontal scaling, metrics, preboot and zero-downtime deploys. Performance-L at $500 gives 14 GB with dedicated compute and autoscaling, and Private Spaces add full network isolation. The Elements Marketplace lists add-ons, buildpacks and MCP servers, and Heroku AI offers managed inference. There is no free plan, and the Standard tier's price for 0.5 GB is high against Render or DigitalOcean. For teams that value the git push workflow and add-ons, it remains dependable.
