Discord Statistics 2026
This page collects figures on Discord as a platform: how many people use it, how they spend time there, who they are, how Discord makes money through Nitro and ads, what investors have valued it at, and what its safety work looks like. Discord is privately held and had not filed a public registration statement with the SEC as of November 2026, so its user and business figures come from its own press releases, blog posts and transparency report, from news reports on its funding and IPO plans, and from independent surveys in the US, Denmark and Brazil. Most figures describe 2024 to 2026; older survey results are labeled with their year.

Reading the numbers
Discord changed the headline number it reports. Through 2025 its press releases cited more than 200 million monthly active users, a figure Bloomberg Law repeated when it reported Discord's confidential IPO filing in January 2026. In 2026 Discord switched to daily users, citing more than 90 million daily active users as of Q2 2026. The two numbers measure different things and should not be read as a decline. Appfigures adds an outside view of the mobile apps: about 90 million new downloads in 2024, flat on 2023, and nearly 700 million since 2017.
Gaming is still the center of the product. Discord says players in voice channels played games an estimated 66% more days in late 2025, and that more than 10,000 game communities had over 80 million members. Independent surveys agree: Pew Research Center found 44% of US teen gamers use Discord compared with 28% of all teens, and the Center for Digital Pædagogik and UNICEF Denmark found 83% of Danish child users use it to talk with friends while gaming. Developers are a second core group, with 37.3% of professional developers in Stack Overflow's 2025 survey using it as a community platform.
Money comes from Nitro subscriptions, ads and commerce. Nitro costs $9.99 a month and Nitro Basic $2.99 in the US, and Discord says more than 5 million Nitro subscriptions were gifted in 2026. Appfigures estimates store revenue from the mobile apps peaked at $143 million before slipping to $140 million in 2024, which covers only in-app purchases on phones. Discord's Quests ad format reports a 97% median completion rate, and TechCrunch reports the company was last valued at $14.7 billion in a 2021 round, with $1.1 billion raised in total according to PitchBook data cited by CNBC.
Safety figures show the scale of moderation and the risks for younger users. Discord filed 518,399 CyberTips with NCMEC between March 2025 and March 2026, and NCMEC's own counts show reports from Discord roughly doubling from 241,354 in 2024 to 489,782 in 2025. In the Danish survey 53% of child users had experienced something unpleasant on Discord, and only 33% talked to someone about it. A 2025 breach at a third-party support vendor exposed data for about 70,000 users, according to TechCrunch.

- Discord says it had more than 90 million daily active users as of Q2 2026. In 2025 it reported more than 200 million monthly active users. The two figures measure different things, daily versus monthly use, so they are not a sign of decline.

Where these numbers come from
Discord is a private company and had not published an SEC registration statement as of November 2026, so there is no audited data on its users, revenue or profit. We used Discord's own press releases, blog posts and transparency report for user, engagement, Nitro and ads figures and labeled them as company data; app intelligence estimates from Appfigures for mobile downloads and store revenue; news reports from TechCrunch, CNBC, Bloomberg Law and Shacknews for funding and IPO facts; and independent surveys from Pew Research Center, Stack Overflow, the Center for Digital Pædagogik and UNICEF Denmark, Cetic.br and CivicScience for who uses Discord. Child safety report counts come from NCMEC. Samples differ by country, age and definition of use, so percentages from different surveys should not be compared directly. Pew's teen figure is from 2023 and the CivicScience figures from 2022; both are labeled. Every quote was checked against the live source page on the date shown. We store the sentence each number appears in, and a script loads the publisher's page again to make sure that sentence is still there. Our methodology has the details.
